Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers are sterile injectable gels made from hyaluronic acid (HA) or calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). They are used to restore structural support, soften lines and folds, enhance facial contours, and improve overall balance of the face.

At the symm label, we work exclusively with high quality, clinically trusted filler brands including Juvederm, Revanesse, Teosyal, and Radiesse. Each product has unique properties and is selected intentionally based on anatomy, treatment area, and desired outcome.
Some fillers provide firmer support to enhance structure and definition, while others are designed to attract hydration and create softness and fullness. Your Nurse Injector will determine the most appropriate product and placement to achieve natural, balanced results that respect your facial structure.

Treatment Areas

Dermal fillers can be used across multiple areas of the face and neck to restore support, improve contour, and enhance overall harmony. Commonly treated areas include:
Cheeks (mid-cheek support and contour)
Chin and chin shadow
Full facial rejuvenation
Jawline
Lips
Marionette lines
Nasolabial folds
Neck
Perioral lines (around the lips)
Skin hydration
Tear troughs (under eyes)
Temples
We specialize in full facial harmonization. Treatment areas and techniques are always individualized based on facial structure, skin quality, and aesthetic goals. In many cases, multiple areas are treated together to achieve balanced, natural-looking results rather than addressing a single feature in isolation.

What to Expect

Your Nurse Injector will review a treatment plan tailored exclusively to your facial structure, proportions, and desired outcome, ensuring each recommendation supports overall balance and harmony.

Prior to treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and injection points are carefully mapped. To manage comfort, topical numbing, ice, and a pulsing distraction device may be used. Dermal filler is placed using precise techniques selected for each area. Treatment typically takes 15-45 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur immediately following treatment and is considered normal. While downtime is minimal, swelling or mild bruising can persist for up to two weeks, particularly in more sensitive areas.

Results & Longevity

Results from dermal filler are visible immediately and continue to improve as swelling resolves and the product integrates into the tissue. Final results are typically appreciated over the following weeks.

A complimentary two week follow up visit allows us to assess how the filler has settled, confirm balance, and address any concerns.

Longevity varies based on product choice, placement, and the amount of filler used. Most patients experience results lasting 9-12 months, with certain products and areas lasting 12-18 months or longer.

Additional factors that can influence longevity include metabolism, lifestyle habits, stress levels, activity, genetics, and the time between treatments. Your Nurse Injector will guide you on expected duration and appropriate maintenance based on your individualized plan.

Dermal Filler FAQ

Dermal fillers are considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional using clinically approved products. At the symm label, we work exclusively with high quality fillers supported by extensive clinical research.

Dermal fillers are not recommended for patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, or who have certain medical considerations, including allergies to bees or wasps. All relevant medical history is reviewed through intake forms and during your consultation.

You will not look fake. Our approach is always subtle, balanced, and intentional. Desired outcomes are discussed in detail, and treatment plans are built around facial structure and proportions to create results that feel natural and refined, never obvious or overdone.

Side effects are typically mild and temporary. Some patients experience redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. These effects usually improve within hours to days, though tenderness can last up to one to two weeks depending on the areas treated and the amount of product used.

Ice is used during and after treatment to minimize swelling and bruising. Post-treatment discomfort is usually mild and can be managed with ice and Tylenol.

As with any injectable treatment, dermal fillers carry a rare risk of vascular occlusion. This risk is discussed in detail during consultation. Proper training, experience, and protocol adherence, as well as ultrasound-guided care provided by the skilled Nurse Injectors at the symm label significantly reduce risk. Our team is trained in vascular occlusion management, including the use of hyaluronidase when appropriate. Post-care instructions include symptoms to monitor, and follow up protocols are in place for all filler patients.

Dermal fillers are suitable for adults over the age of 18. There is no “right” age to start.

Fillers can be used to support facial balance, restore structure, improve hydration, soften lines, and enhance contours. Whether you’re addressing early changes or more established concerns, treatment is always tailored to your anatomy and goals. It’s never too late to begin, and your Nurse Injector will guide you on what’s appropriate at any stage of life.

Dermal fillers gradually break down over time. Longevity typically ranges from 6-18 months, depending on the treatment area, product used, and individual metabolism.

Results and longevity of dermal filler are influenced by factors such as dosing, placement, lifestyle habits, age, genetics, stress, and time between treatments. Maintenance treatments help support longer-lasting, more consistent results, with many patients aiming for 12 months or more between treatments.

If desired, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase.

Discomfort varies by patient and treatment area, but is generally well tolerated. Topical numbing is used prior to treatment, and many fillers contain lidocaine for added comfort. Additional comfort measures such as ice, injected numbing, and pulsing distraction tools may be used.

A needle or cannula is used to poke through the skin to administer the product, which can feel “spicy” in some areas, particularly the lips. Your comfort is second only to your safety, so we use a variety of tools and techniques to reduce discomfort during your treatment at the symm label. Pain management options are always discussed prior to treatment to ensure a comfortable experience.

Downtime is minimal, though swelling or bruising may be visible for several days up to two weeks depending on the area treated.

Pricing varies based on the number of areas treated and the amount of product required. Treatments typically range from $600 to $3,000+.

At the symm label, we specialize in full facial balancing rather than treating isolated areas, as this approach can create imbalance. During your consultation, we assess your facial structure as a whole and provide transparent pricing tailored to your treatment plan. Financing options are also available through our financing partner, Beautifi.

All dermal filler treatments at the symm label are performed by Registered Nurse Injectors with advanced training in facial anatomy and facial balancing techniques. Our team has extensive hands-on experience with a range of filler products and techniques, and before and after portfolios are available for review.

Our Nurse Injectors work under the direction of our Owner and Advanced Nurse Injector, alongside our Medical Director.

There is minimal preparation required prior to dermal filler. We recommend:

  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Staying well hydrated
  • Eating prior to your appointment

Avoiding alcohol and limiting caffeine (yes, you can still have your morning coffee, but maybe stick to one cup!) beforehand may help reduce bruising. Arnica may be used before and after treatment if desired, though it is not required.

You’re welcome to arrive makeup-free, though the skin will be thoroughly cleansed before treatment. Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment, and ice will be your best friend for the first couple days post treatment!

Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment verbally, as well as emailed to you. In general, we recommend:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 48 hours
  • Avoid pressure on treated areas for 48 hours
  • Avoid facial treatments, lasers, peels, or massage for two weeks
  • Avoid sleeping directly on your face

These guidelines help ensure the product stays where it was injected, reduce inflammation, and support optimal healing. A two week follow up is recommended, especially if it your your first time getting dermal fillers or your first visit to the symm label.

If it’s your first dermal filler treatment or your first visit to the symm label, we recommend a complimentary four week follow up appointment, unless otherwise discussed.

This visit allows us to assess how the product has settled, review before and after photos, and address any concerns. Minor adjustments may be discussed if appropriate, though additional treatment is not commonly required. We want to ensure you are 100% happy with your results, and this appointment ensures we can do that.
