Collagen Stimulators

Collagen stimulators are injectable treatments designed to improve skin structure while encouraging the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, both of which gradually decline with age.

At the symm label, we use Radiesse, a collagen stimulating injectable made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). When placed strategically within the skin, Radiesse provides immediate support to soften moderate to severe folds, while also creating a scaffold that stimulates ongoing collagen and elastin production over time.
As the product integrates and the CaHA particles are naturally metabolized, the skin continues to strengthen and improve in quality. This makes collagen stimulators particularly beneficial for patients who feel their skin appears thinner, less supported, or crepey, and who are seeking gradual, long-lasting improvement rather than instant volume alone.

Treatment Areas

Collagen stimulators are well suited for areas where skin support, firmness, and overall rejuvenation are needed. They are commonly used as part of a full facial rejuvenation approach and may be applied to:
Chin and chin shadow
Corners of the mouth
Jawline
Marionette lines
Neck
Perioral commissures
Smile lines
And surrounding areas as appropriate

Radiesse can be used on its own or in combination with other dermal fillers, depending on the desired outcome and areas being treated.

Treatment areas and protocols are always individualized based on facial structure, skin quality, and goals. For optimal results, it is common to require a series of at least two treatments, allowing collagen stimulation to build progressively over time.

What to Expect

Your Nurse Injector will begin by reviewing a treatment plan tailored to your facial structure, skin quality, and desired outcome, ensuring recommendations support both immediate improvement and long term skin health.

Before treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and injection points are carefully mapped. To support comfort, topical and or local numbing, ice, and a pulsing distraction device may be used. Treatment typically takes 20-45 minutes, depending on the number of areas addressed.

Swelling and bruising are common immediately following treatment and are considered part of the normal healing process. While downtime is minimal, mild swelling or bruising can persist for up to two weeks, particularly in more sensitive areas.

A follow up visit at approximately two weeks is recommended to assess how the product has settled, confirm balance once swelling has resolved, and determine whether a second treatment is appropriate.

Results & Longevity

Initial improvement is visible immediately, with continued enhancement as swelling subsides and the product integrates into the tissue. Collagen stimulation occurs gradually, with best results typically seen around four week post treatment and further improvement following a second session if recommended.

The goal of collagen stimulation is to improve skin support, firmness, and quality over time, creating a more plump, hydrated appearance without excess volume. Results vary between individuals, and treatment is focused on meaningful improvement rather than perfection.

Longevity and treatment response depend on factors such as product placement, amount used, metabolism, lifestyle habits, stress, genetics, and time between treatments. A series of treatments is often recommended to achieve and maintain optimal, long lasting results.

Collagen Stimulators FAQ

Collagen stimulators are considered safe when administered by trained medical professionals and are widely studied and regulated. Intake forms and your consultation appointment allow us to assess candidacy thoroughly before treatment. Collagen stimulators like Radiesse are not recommended for patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive.

You will not look fake with hyperdilute Radiesse. Our approach is always subtle and progressive. Treatment plans are built around your facial structure and skin quality to create natural-looking improvement over time. The goal is restoration and support, never overcorrection.

Side effects from hyperdilute Radiesse are typically mild and temporary. Some patients experience redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. These effects often resolve within days, though tenderness may last up to one to two weeks depending on the areas treated and amount of product used.

Ice is used during and after treatment to minimize swelling and bruising. Any post-treatment discomfort is usually manageable with ice and Tylenol.

Collagen stimulators are suitable for adults over the age of 18. There is no single “right” time to begin aesthetic treatments. It’s your face!

Hyperdilute Radiesse is ideal for patients looking to improve overall skin quality, firmness, and support, those noticing thinning or crepey skin, and mature patients seeking gradual, long lasting rejuvenation. Starting earlier can help support collagen levels over time, but treatment can be beneficial at any stage of life! Your Nurse Injector will guide you based on your goals and anatomy.

Results are visible immediately and continue to improve as collagen and elastin production increases. Many patients experience results lasting 12-18 months, with some seeing benefits for up to two years.

Longevity depends on factors such as product placement, amount used, metabolism, lifestyle habits, genetics, stress, and time between treatments.

Discomfort varies by patient, but most find treatment well tolerated. Topical numbing is used prior to treatment, and Radiesse contains lidocaine to enhance comfort. Additional measures such as ice and pulsing distraction tools may also be used.

Downtime is minimal with Radiesse. Swelling or bruising can occur and is usually manageable with ice. Any concerns about comfort can be discussed with your Nurse Injector beforehand to ensure the best possible experience.

Pricing is based on treatment area and amount of product required. Collagen stimulator treatments like Radiesse typically start from $900 per area. It is common to require two treatments, often spaced approximately three months apart, for optimal results.

Final pricing is reviewed during consultation. Financing options are also available.

All collagen stimulator treatments are performed by Registered Nurse Injectors with advanced training in facial anatomy and facial balancing techniques. Our team has extensive hands-on experience and works under the direction of our Owner and Advanced Nurse Injector, alongside our Medical Director. Before and after portfolios are available for reference.

There is minimal preparation required prior to Radiesse. We recommend:

  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Staying well hydrated
  • Eating prior to your appointment

Avoiding alcohol and limiting caffeine (yes, you can still have your morning coffee, but maybe stick to one cup!) beforehand may help reduce bruising. Arnica may be used before and after treatment if desired, though it is not required.

You’re welcome to arrive makeup-free, though the skin will be thoroughly cleansed before treatment. Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment, and ice will be your best friend for the first couple days post treatment!

Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment verbally, as well as emailed to you. In general, we recommend:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 48 hours
  • Avoid pressure on treated areas for 48 hours
  • Avoid facial treatments, lasers, peels, or massage for two weeks
  • Avoid sleeping directly on your face

These guidelines help ensure the product stays where it was injected, reduce inflammation, and support optimal healing. A two week follow up is recommended, especially if it is your first time getting dermal fillers or your first visit to the symm label.

If it’s your first dermal filler treatment or your first visit to the symm label, we recommend a complimentary two week follow up appointment, unless otherwise discussed.

This visit allows us to assess how the product has settled, review before and after photos, and discuss whether an additional treatment would be beneficial. We want to ensure you are 100% happy with your results, and this appointment ensures we can do that.
