DP4 Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment designed to stimulate the skin’s natural repair process by creating controlled micro-injuries within the skin. This triggers collagen and elastin production, helping to improve texture, tone, and overall skin quality over time.

At the symm label, microneedling with DP4 is used intentionally and often in combination with other treatments to support long-term skin health rather than as a one-off solution.
Each microneedling treatment includes VAMP or PRF to the full face and neck, and is further customized to your unique skin goals, including personalized treatment depth, technique, and targeted serums based on skin type, concerns, and desired treatment.

Treatment Areas

Microneedling can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns across the face and body, including:
Acne-prone areas
Areas with textural irregularities or scarring
Décolletage
Full face
Neck
Under eye area
We focus on overall skin quality and regeneration rather than isolated concerns. Treatment areas and protocols are always individualized based on skin condition, tolerance, and goals. For optimal results, microneedling is often performed as part of a series or paired with complementary treatments.

What to Expect

Your Nurse Injector will begin by assessing your skin and confirming a treatment plan tailored to your skin type, concerns, and desired outcome.

Before treatment, the skin is thoroughly triple cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. Microneedling is performed using a medical-grade device, DP4, with adjustable depths, allowing precise control based on the area being treated and your skin’s tolerance. Treatment typically takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Following the treatment, the skin may appear pink or mildly inflamed, similar to a slight sunburn. This response is normal and typically resolves within 24-72 hours. Downtime is minimal, though some patients may experience dryness or mild flaking as the skin begins to regenerate. A post-treatment mask is applied immediately post-treatment to calm the inflammation.

Results & Longevity

Microneedling results develop gradually as collagen and elastin production increases. Many patients notice early improvements in skin texture and tone within 2-4 weeks, with continued improvement over the following months.

For optimal results, microneedling is often performed as a series of treatments, typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The number of sessions required varies depending on skin concerns such as acne scarring, texture, or overall rejuvenation.

Results and longevity depend on factors including skin condition, treatment depth, lifestyle habits, and consistency of treatments. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to support long-term skin quality and collagen production.

Microneedling FAQ

Yes, microneedling is considered a safe treatment when performed by trained medical professionals using medical-grade devices, such as DP4. Treatment depth and technique are carefully controlled and tailored to your skin type and concerns.

Your intake forms and consultation help ensure microneedling is appropriate for you. Certain skin conditions or active infections may require treatment to be postponed.

Side effects are typically mild and temporary. Most patients experience redness, warmth, or mild swelling immediately after treatment, similar to a light sunburn. This usually resolves within 24-72 hours.

Some patients may notice dryness or light flaking as the skin heals. Post-care instructions are provided to support recovery and minimize irritation.

Microneedling is suitable for adults over the age of 18 who are looking to improve skin texture, tone, fine lines, acne scarring, or overall skin quality.

There is no “right” age to start. Microneedling can be used preventatively to support collagen production or later in life to improve visible signs of aging. Your Nurse Injector will recommend whether this treatment fits your goals and skin condition.

Discomfort is generally minimal. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to improve comfort, and most patients tolerate the procedure well.

Downtime is minimal. Redness typically resolves within a few days, and most patients return to normal activities quickly. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, sun exposure, and active skincare for a short period following treatment.

Pricing varies depending on the treatment area and whether microneedling is combined with other therapies. Cost and treatment recommendations are reviewed during your consultation.

For best results, microneedling is often performed as a series, which may be discussed as part of your treatment plan.

Microneedling treatments are performed by Registered Nurse Injectors with advanced training in skin anatomy and regenerative treatments.

Our team works under the direction of our Owner and Advanced Nurse Injector, alongside our Medical Director, ensuring treatments are delivered safely and thoughtfully

There is minimal preparation required prior to microneedling. We recommend:

  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Staying well hydrated
  • Eating prior to your appointment
  • Avoid any active ingredients including retinol/retinoids for at least 1 week

Avoiding alcohol and limiting caffeine (yes, you can still have your morning coffee, but maybe stick to one cup!) beforehand may help reduce bruising.

You’re welcome to arrive makeup-free, though the skin will be thoroughly cleansed before treatment. Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment, and ice will be your best friend for the first couple days post treatment!

Post-care instructions are provided after your appointment verbally, as well as emailed to you. In general, we recommend:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 24 hours
  • Avoid laying flat or pressure on treated areas for 4 hours
  • Avoid facial treatments, lasers, peels, or massage for 24 hours
  • Avoid any active ingredients including retinol/retinoids for at least 48 hours

These guidelines help reduce inflammation and support optimal healing.

Follow up appointments are not routinely required for microneedling. However, we recommend pre-booking treatment series to stay on schedule and achieve the best possible results from your treatment plan.

Initial improvements may be noticed within 2-4 weeks, with continued improvement as collagen production increases.

Results are cumulative and best achieved through a series of treatments. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to support long-term skin health and collagen stimulation.
